Incarceration or Dog Pound?

Incarceration of any human being is like being a dog in the pound. Worse if you ask most who have had the experience. It's not so much the process of being arrested and booked in at the jail. It's the long stay that you may have to endure. Weather or not your crime is the smallest thing like an unpaid fine to murdering someone. They all are treated the same for the most part.
Given the very bare minimal of what they need. As you are being taken into your pods (cell) you are first stripped down to nothing but your bare ass. You are patted down and made to bend over and spread your butt cheeks. So that the guards can check for any contraband that you may or may not have. Contraband being things such as; drugs, ciggerettes, lighters, knifes, blades, crack pipes, etc..... Anything not given to you by the jail is considered contrband and can lead to you furthing your stay in the facility. You are then given a pair of thin white shorts and a thin white t-shirt. Along with that you are given a jump suit stamped with the correctional facility's name on the back of it. You are then given your bed, meaning; one very thin sheet and one maybe 5' by 5' blanket if you can call it that. It's rolled up together and issued to you. You have no pillow at all and are made to sleep in concrete and metal bunks. Sometimes if the facility is over crowded you will find yourself or others sleeping in rubbermaid boats (as the inmates refer to them).
You are given three meals a day. Thats breakfeast at 5am, lunch at 11am then dinner around 5pm. The meals are just enough to keep one alive but not full ever. You are given such small portions of what you get that it would barely be enough to fill a child up. The food is what gets to me the most. It just doesnt seem right to treat every quote unquote "criminal" in that manner.
Lights, t.v's, and voices constantly. Never is it completely quite. Everything echos in the jails because it all just concrete and metal. You have no control over anything. You are locked up in a very small space with at least 8 other inmates for most of the day. Allowed out at certain times for recreation. Recreation being walking in circles around the pod. Maybe playing basketball (if you are lucky enough to get a pair of tennis shoes). Other than that it is book reading or watching whatever happens to be on television. Which you dont pick that, everyone has to agree.
Its a very sad and lonely place to be. For most inmates it is unnessasry treatment for their crimes are so small and ridiculous. We need to pay better attention to how our country treats human beings while they are under the goverments care.
